Our office explores the strategy of “mending and re-use” instead of “demolition and replacement”

The bacon street offices are designed around an open studio environment that makes use of an existing auto-repair shop. Re-purposing the existing service bays with large ground floor windows and new street side landscape has connected the studio to the surrounding neighborhood, creating a model for the re-use of existing structures within the community.

Recognition:
- USGBC – LEED Gold Certification
- 2009 Merit Award | Cote Award-American Institute of Architects San Diego
- 2009 Energy Efficiency Award for Net Zero Energy Design-SDG & E
- 2011 Orchid Award for Architecture-San Diego Architectural Foundation Orchids and Onions Program
- First Commercial Net Zero Energy Building in San Diego Region
